Designed by and for the African church, this project addresses three critical gaps: the need for clear orientation on what it means to be a missionary, a deeper understanding of the role of churches and individuals in God’s mission, and the identification and equipping of cross-cultural workers. Targeting high school graduates, pastors, students, and skilled professionals, EWA offers both group and personalized training sessions, developed and delivered by seasoned SIM missionaries.

Launched in 2024, the project’s two-year pilot phase in Nigeria already shows significant impact. Twelve individuals are currently at various stages of deployment to mission fields by WAMO.

Why Engage West Africa?

EWA addresses the urgent need for contextualized, cross-cultural training through:

A Total Life-Shaping Curriculum: A transformative journey leads participants to:

Discover their God-given life purpose.

Discern personal calling to missions.

Identify and seize practical, cross-cultural opportunities.

Strategic Kingdom Partnerships: Supported by SIM WAMO, participants are connected with mission fields, sending churches, and like-minded organizations to expand their reach and deepen engagement.

Focused Mentorship and Internships: Structured mentorship groups and internship opportunities ensure long-term follow-up and deep discipleship beyond the classroom.

Mobilization from Within: Tapping into our region’s cultural strengths, spiritual fervor, and leadership capacity, EWA affirms the African Church’s unique voice and role in global missions as it equips West Africans to reach West Africa and beyond,.

Impact So Far

The first training drew 110 participants, including guests from East and Southern Africa.

7 mentorship groups now provide sustained discipleship and mission preparation.

Local churches report a surge in mission interest, some for the first time in their history.

12 participants from EWA 2024 signed up with SIM and are processing for deployment to various fields, representing a new wave of cross-cultural missionaries.

Invitation

Our heartfelt desire is to extend this training to all our entities in West Africa. You may wonder: Is this truly necessary? Won’t God raise workers in His own way and time? Indeed, He is the Lord of the harvest. Yet just as the early church was led to “set apart” Paul and Barnabas, we believe God calls us today to intentionally identify, equip, and send laborers into His harvest. EWA provides a purposeful, prayerful, and practical framework to do just that.

We prayerfully ask you, our SIM Country Directors in West Africa, to prayerfully identify one or two churches in your country that may be open to hosting an EWA training. Think of churches that:

Are passionate about missions and discipleship.

Desire to equip their members for greater gospel impact.

Are ready to partner in sending workers into the field.

If a church comes to mind, we would love to connect. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Together, let us raise and release more laborers for the Kingdom.

                        Donate to Us

Engage West Africa (EWA) is a WAMO-led mobilization initiative designed to partner with churches across the region to raise, equip, and send qualified missionaries into communities where Christ is least […]

["post-11563","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
